Integrity

Definition: adherence to moral and ethical principles.

Integrity is sticking to your word and holding yourself accountable to your word. Integrity is needed in a leadership role because without it, nobody would trust their peers or be able to believe everything anyone says. Owning up to mistakes it something that is a large part of integrity. For me, I need stop pushing Rec leadership of to the side as just "an extra class" and take it more seriously. The fact that I'm doing this blog the day it's due is ridiculous. I need to hold myself more accountable in these situations.

An example of someone who does have integrity would be an accountant. They count money for businesses. An accountant could very easily pocket some money and lie about the total cash. But they don't, they hold themselves to a high moral principle which could translate to having integrity.

Strength

Definition : the quality or state of being strong.

Strength isn't necessary dependant on how much someone can bench press. Although lifting 300 pounds does technically make you strong, it doesn't signify that you have strength. To me, strength means being able to persevere in difficult times. Mental strength is just as important as physical strength. While in a leadership role, having strong mental awareness will you keep you on track to complete your goal, it will also demonstrate the confidence you have and hopefully instil that confidence into your peers.

In Rec, I chose to wear my retainer every night for the 30 days challenge. I needed a lot of mental strength for the first couple of days. When you don't wear a retainer for a long time and then randomly decide to wear it, you wake up in the morning not being able to chew food due to the pain. But, mental strength overpowered the worry of the pain and told me that completing the 30 day challenge would feel great once it was accomplished.

Disappointment

Disappointment sucks, whether it be disappointing yourself or disappointing others. I think disappointing others hurts a lot more though.

Definition: to fail to fulfill the expectations or wishes of.

Disappointing yourself sucks, once you've completed an assignment knowing you didn't give your 100%, it leaves a bad feeling in your stomach. While doing the task, the fact that you're giving half effort doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when you look back on the fact you didn't do your best, it makes you feel sick and embarrassed. Disappointing other people is even worse, when people rely on you to complete something and you don't, you know that their opinion of you will automatically change; even if they say it doesn't. The feeling of letting someone down or disappointing them really makes you rethink what you just did, the fact that you had a chance to really come through for someone and you end up falling short, it causes a horrible feeling to dwell in your stomach.

Passion

Definition:any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, aslove or hate.

Passion is the feeling that compels people to do great things. Nobody has ever changed the world in a field in which they weren't passionate about. For me, If I lack passion for something, I find it very hard to gather my thoughts and complete the task I'm meant to finish.  On the other hand, having  passion for things helps me excel in whatever I'm doing. Putting in hard work becomes a whole lot easier if you're passionate about whatever it is you're doing. For example, driving out to Langley 3-4 times a week would seem like a nuisance, but since I'm passionate about soccer, I don't mind the commute at all.
